Hi Krytonlister I would be very interested in your memory training. I have done some already can remember lists using alphabet, number/rhyme am interested in roman room method. Would love to teach these techniques to my daughter.
I must admit i never knew that one "( body )", but there are hundreds out there, the alphabet being a well known one. My list was 100 to start with, then i sort of left it for a few years, now i only really use it for remembering cards and the the calender, i have not done these for years either! i don't use it AT ALL for remembering things like countries,presidents,royalty, galaxies,etc, Well!!! maybe sometimes an image from my list will appear, but not used in the same way? Sorry bro - going on a bit, let me put it this way. A shopping list - remembering 10 items by associating the 1st item with the 2nd item, the 2nd item with the 3rd, the 3rd with the 4th and so on, this is the way i remember things. It's bigger than you think and easier too, put it this way i had a farm full of animals, a zoo, an orchard full of trees, an aquarium full of fish, a dog pound with over 100 dogs, i had a library full of lists, i had a castle where i could go to the top and look across my 'virtual world' i can see my farm and zoo from here, i can view it all as one image ' a photo' if you like, my image now contains 1000's of items whereas your image will be pegged to something as 1 image, i use my images in a big way, for instance in my 'hotel' i have at the moment got an astronaut talking with William Shakespeare, when i look at either one-i get my list, but there are dozens of people here, i give them rooms too, and the receptionist keeps a book that i can access, so i know who's in reception waiting to sign in and who has a room. I have shops too, i can go into my butchers shop and SEE all the different cuts of meat, and all ' game' hanging in a nice rack, i don't have to go through these one at a time on a list to get the one i want-i see it and simply select it. Same too with the moat around my 'castle' ( another home) it has a tent by it with a Union Jack flag flying above it, i know that if i go in there a man will name 146 UK rivers that flow into the English Channel, theres an Angler nearby ready to name all freshwater fish etc, BUILD your own world! or at least a city, i have had many in the past and lists can be 'imported' from one method to another. Now i'm going on! I hope it makes sense bro, if not i will write down a typical list and how i do it ( the way you set yours on your reply ), but honestly mate you already know this better than you think, you use it everytime you add to a list, it's just that you DON'T need to add it to a list - just visualize it and link it to the next. It's like a book-in order - and you dont need to go through 'alphabet/wardrobe/journeyman, stuff to find a word or person starting with the letter 'N', just open the book at 'N'. and you will see ALL your stuff beginning with 'N'
ps. There is an African guy interested too, he wrote me today, asked if he had done anything like this before and am awaiting his reply. If he has'nt done this before may i suggest you/me /both of us teach him the alphabet method?
Hi Reviloh, no problem bro, i'm just about ready to get underway, just got to get some more lists together. I'm looking for 'interesting lists' as most of what i have are a bit crap, i gathered that much info, i realised that i had wasted a lot of time collecting rubbish, what i mean is - why do i need a list with a 1000 plants when i would never use them, well maybe one or two but the most popular 12 would be enough! By the way - i'm not looking to remember huge things anymore, just doing it to broaden my knowledge, so where most people will know for example ' who was the 1st man to set foot on the moon? who was the 2nd? the 3rd, thats about it- whereas i will know the first 12, and the first 12 of anything similar. Just to be know-it all i guess.lol BUT! i will doing the dictionary - been wanting to do that for years. Anyway, enough about me, i can show you this method - but if i had a bit more info on how you do stuff, i would have a better chance of explaining it, for instance if you can give me 3 examples on your alphabet, what does 'your' A, represent to you, what does it look like, what list it gives you and how, that sort of thing, from this i will be able to 'see' your method and how it relates to mine and, hopefully, combine or alter to suit.
